GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech golfer Bryce Chalkley has been named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Team as announced Tuesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Chalkley, a freshman from Richmond, Virginia, is one of 20 members on the team. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Chalkley, an engineering major at Virginia Tech, is one of four freshmen on this year’s team and the only engineering major on the squad.

All eleven schools were represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team. Duke led the way with five players represented. Wake Forest claimed three players, while Clemson, Maryland and NC State captured two players each. Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia and the Hokies landed one player each to round out the team.

James White of Georgia Tech was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was one of nine repeat honorees.
