HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Virginia Tech golf team shot a two-round total of one-under-par 567 and is tied with Bowling Green and Wright State for seventh place at the 41st annual Marshall Invitational at the 6,456-yard, par 71 Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, West Virginia on Monday.

Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Virginia) shot two-under-par 140 and is tied for 17th place. The freshman, making his collegiate debut, is eight strokes behind day one leader Sebastian MacLean of Xavier. Chalkley shot one-under-par 70 in each of Monday’s two rounds.

Sophomore Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Virginia) is tied for 36th at even-par 142. Seniors Aaron Eckstein (Salem, Virginia) and Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Virginia) each shot 143 and are tied for 41st place. Junior Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Texas) shot 145 and is tied for 54th place. As a team, the Hokies recorded no round higher than 73 and counted no score higher than 72 in the first two rounds.

Two Hokies are playing the event as individuals. Senior Garland Green (Tazewell, Virginia) shot four-under-par 138 and is tied for seventh place and redshirt sophomore Marc MacDonald (Harare, Zimbabwe) shot 141 and is tied for 25th place. MacDonald is also making his collegiate debut in this event.

Ohio State leads the event after shooting 547 on the day and has an 11-stroke lead over Xavier. Miami of Ohio is third at 560, Eastern Kentucky is fourth at 562, host Marshall is fifth at 564 and Austin Peay is sixth at 565, two strokes ahead of Tech, Bowling Green and Wright State. Richmond is 10th at 568, Toledo is 11th at 570 and William & Mary is 12th at 572. Northern Illinois is 13th at 574, Cleveland State is 14th at 579 and Ohio is 15th at 582.

The final round will be played on Tuesday morning. Final results will be available after the event on hokiesports.com.
