UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Virginia Tech golfer Mikey Moyers shot an opening round six-over-par 77 in the first round of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship on the 7,742-yard, par 71 Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington on Monday.
The first round was suspended due to darkness at 8:17 p.m. PDT, before all competitors were able to finish their round. Play will resume at 7 a.m., on Tuesday morning before the second round begins.
Moyers, a sophomore from Stanardsville, Virginia, is making his first appearance in a U.S. Amateur Championship. He will tee off in the second round at 2:30 p.m. PDT from the 10th hole of the 7,420-yard, par 72 Home Course. Moyers is grouped with Patrick Reed of Augusta State and Louis-Alexandre Pitre of Canada.
