GREENVILLE, S.C. – Virginia Tech shot a two-round total of 596 and tied with host Furman for second place at the 40th Annual Furman Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Course. The Hokies shot a final-round 299 on Sunday afternoon.
The tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, was shortened to 36 holes after heavy rains soaked the course throughout Saturday and forced the cancellation of the scheduled second round.
Senior Drew Weaver (High Point, N.C.) once again led the Hokies, as he shot a three-over-par 147 and tied for fifth place. Austin Reeves of Furman defeated teammate Daniel Bowden in a playoff for medalist honors.
Sophomore Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) tied for 11th place with a 149 and sophomore Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) and redshirt senior Will Oldham (Spartanburg, S.C.) each shot 151 and tied for 16th place. Freshman Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Texas) tied for 53rd place at 157.
