Soon after posting a second-place finish and helping the Hokies to an impressive third-place finish at the 3M Augusta Invitational on April 6, Scott Vincent boarded a flight to Zimbabwe to compete in the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open, part of the Sunshine Tour, a professional golf tour in southern Africa.
The only amateur in the event, Vincent posted rounds of 73-70-72-67=282 and tied for 24th place in the tournament. The junior from Harare, Zimbabwe, made the cut by one stroke on Friday, but played the final two rounds 5-under-par for his impressive finish. He played a bogey-free final round, including three birdies on the back nine. Seventy-two players made the cut in the 156-man field. J’be Kruger won the event by one stroke over Jacques Blaauw.
Vincent and the Hokies return to action on April 25-27, as they compete in the 2014 ACC Men’s Golf Championship at the Old North State Club in Badin Lake, N.C.
