Cone advances to match play at Public Links

Virginia Tech golfer Trevor Cone shot back-to-back rounds of one-over-par 71 and finished in a tie for 26th place in stroke play at the 2013 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, being played this week at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.

With his 26th place finish, Cone advances into match play at the event. Cone, a rising junior from Concord, N.C., plays his first match beginning at 10:50 a.m. against Mark Cusic from California, Md. The top 64 scorers of the 156 players that competed in stroke play advanced to the match play portion of the tournament.
