Mikey Moyers shot a one-under-par 69 to hold off former teammate Bryce Chalkley for a two-shot victory at the 57th Annual Eastern Amateur at the par-70 Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club in Portsmouth, Va. on Sunday afternoon.
Moyers, who completed his eligibility at Virginia Tech this spring, shot 64-69-64-69 and finished with a 14-under 266, two strokes ahead of Chalkley. Chalkley, a rising senior for the Hokies, shot 67-69-69, before firing a tournament-low seven-under-par 63 in the final round.
Two other Hokies, incoming freshmen Joey Lane and Ryan Mondy, also made the cut. Lane shot 67-67-72-73=279 and Mondy carded rounds of 72-71-73-68= 284.

Chalkley, Moyers and Lane will play in the State Open of Virginia this week. Chalkley was exempt into the event is one of the top 10 amateurs and ties in last year’s championship. The State Open of Virginia will be played at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va., July 18-21.
