Virginia Tech’s Scott Vincent shot a final round nine under-par 63 and won the Allegheny Amateur at the Blacksburg Country Club on Sunday. Vincent, a sophomore from Harare, Zimbabwe, shot a two-round total of nine-under-par 135 to defeat 2010 champion Keith Decker and Hokie teammate Bryce Chalkley by two strokes.
Vincent recorded nine birdies in Sunday’s final round. This puts a winning cap on a fine week by Vincent, who led the Hokies to a win in the Marshall Invitational on Tuesday. Vincent finished in a tie for third individually in the season-opening win at Marshall.
Sophomore Trevor Cone joined Vincent and Chalkley in the top 5 at the Allegheny on Sunday. He shot a 139 to finish in a tie for fifth place. Tech freshman Maclain Huge tied for 11th with a 143. Miles Curley (148), Mikey Moyers (152), Marc MacDonald (154) and Jacob Everts (155) also competed in the Allegheny.
