Former Tech golf Drew Weaver will be appearing on the Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” on Wednesday morning (July 18) to discuss his ascension to the top of one of golf’s development tours – the eGolf Tour.
Weaver will appear on the popular morning show at 8:15 a.m. as part of Golf Channel’s weeklong coverage of the 141st Open Championship, which begins on Thursday at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in Lancashire, England. As most know, Weaver won the 2007 British Amateur at this same course and will be discussing that as well.
Weaver has been one of the hottest golfers on golf’s development tours this year. He recently won his second tournament of the season, edging Michael Sims in a playoff to win the Southern Open held July 11-14 in Kannapolis, N.C.
With two wins and four runner-up finishes in his past seven starts on the eGolf Tour, Weaver has eclipsed the $100,000 mark in single-season earnings on the tour. In turn, he became the seventh player since 2008 to do so and the fastest ever on the tour to reach the six-figure benchmark.
“Morning Drive,” which debuted in 2011, will air live from Golf Channel’s Orlando-based studio on Wednesday morning from 7-9 a.m., with an extra episode from 9-11 a.m., given the major championship week.
