Former Tech golf Drew Weaver, who is playing on the North Carolina-based eGolf Tour, captured his second tournament win of the season, winning the Southern Open held July 11-14 in Kannapolis, N.C.
Weaver won when he rolled in a 30-foot birdie on the first playoff hole to edge Michael Sims. He and Sims both shot 17-under for the tournament before heading to a playoff.
With the win, Weaver pocketed $24,000 and now has earned more than $100,000 for the year. He won the Willow Creek Open at High Point Country Club in May and has three career wins on the eGolf Tour.
