Virginia Tech, Experience partner to deliver fan experience technology to fans

This technology allows Tech fans with game tickets to purchase memorable experiences at men's basketball games

BLACKSBURG – The fan experience at Virginia Tech athletics events always has been considered among the best in the Atlantic Coast Conference – and it’s about to get even better.

The Virginia Tech Athletics Department and Experience, an Atlanta-based mobile technology company, have partnered to deliver new fan experience technology to Virginia Tech men’s basketball fans for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Starting Tuesday, fans will be able to use their smartphones to purchase men’s basketball fan experience options from the athletics department. Branded “Maroon & Orange Memories,” these experiences include such things as sitting on the Tech bench for warm-ups, playing “Enter Sandman” before the opening tip, and securing postgame court access for photos on the Carilion Clinic Court.

To sign up, visit www.hokiesports.com/experience and fill out the form – signing up is free. The Maroon & Orange Memories offerings are listed toward the bottom of the page, along with frequently asked questions. Be sure to click the “Send notifications only for this event” and “Send notifications only for all future events” to receive text alerts when upgrades go on sale.

Only fans with game tickets are allowed to purchase any of the offerings, unless otherwise specified.

Hokie Club members and men’s basketball season ticket holders get an added bonus when they sign up for Maroon & Orange Memories. They receive up to a $10 credit when they sign up using the email that corresponds with their Hokie Club / Ticket Office account.

Once a Tech fan signs up, he or she receives a text message alert when offerings become available. Within the text message is a link that allows fans to browse and purchase memories with a credit card. At the game, one needs to head back to hokiesports.com/experience on his/her phone to redeem the purchase and enjoy.
