LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In a back-and-forth affair at the KFC Yum! Center Saturday evening, the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team fell to the hands of Louisville, 94-86.
Junior Justin Robinson led the Hokies (13-5, 2-3 ACC), recording a career-high 23 points, four rebounds and three assists versus the Cardinals (13-4, 3-1 ACC). Tech shot 49 percent from floor and 82 percent from the free-line line.
No team led more by seven points in the first half, as the tightly-contested game was knotted at 33-33 with 4:36 to go. Louisville went on a 9-4 run, but the Hokies’ Ahmed Hill hit a 3-pointer as time expired.
Coming out of the locker room trailing by four points at 44-40, Tech cut into the deficit and tied it up at 61-all, following a layup by junior Justin Bibbs. Things would go back-and-forth up until the 5:08 mark when it was knotted at 74-74, as the Cards got hot and went on a 15-7 run to close the game.
There were 10 ties and 17 lead changes in the contest.
Deng Adel led the way for the Cardinals, posting a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds.
NOTES
• The Hokies saw four players score in double figures, as Robinson had 23 points, Kerry Blackshear Jr. tallied 19, Ahmed Hill recorded 17 points and Nickeil Alexander-Walker posted 10.
• Blackshear turned in a double-double, his second of the season, scoring 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. The Florida native was an impressive 8-for-10 from the charity stripe.
• Hill continues to shoot it strong from the field, hitting two shots from downtown tonight to total his 3s in ACC play to 10.
• Alexander-Walker swiped a career-high four steals, including three in the first half.
STAT OF THE GAME
• The Hokies outscored the Cardinals 40-28 in the paint, marking their third-straight game of 30 or more points in the lane.

• The Hokies take the mid-week off before returning to action in Cassell Coliseum next Saturday at noon against Florida State. The game is sold out and will be televised by ESPN2 and is also available on the ESPN app.
