BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech has announced game times for nine non-conference contest for the 2017-18 men’s basketball schedule.
The Hokies will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. against Detroit Mercy. The game is part of the 2K Classic and will precede the women’s basketball team’s home opener against Wagner.
The lone road update to the schedule is the Hokies’ Dec. 2 game at Mississippi. The game will tip at 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus and the ESPN app.
Home game times that have been set are: Nov. 12 vs. The Citadel, 7 p.m.; Nov. 21 vs. Houston Baptist (2K Classic), 7 p.m.; Nov. 25 vs. Morehead State, 1 p.m.; Dec. 6 vs. Radford, 6 p.m.; Dec. 10 vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore, 3 p.m.; Dec. 19 vs. Presbyterian, 7 p.m. and Dec. 28 vs. North Carolina A&T, 4 p.m.
The Hokies will have at least 27 games televised and all 18 of the Hokies’ ACC games will be televised this season. Tech will be featured on an ESPN network at least 16 times this season, plus a national CBS game against Louisville at Carilion Court at 1 p.m. on Feb. 24. Tech will also make two ESPN “Big Monday” appearances this season.
A new event, Hokies Hoops Madness, will take place Friday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m., to celebrate last season’s successes and bring basketball entertainment to Blacksburg before the start of the regular season. The event will take place at the Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum and is open to the general public.
