Hokies to host Hokie Hoops Madness

The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams will host “Hokie Hoops Madness” on Friday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m., to celebrate last season’s successes and bring basketball entertainment to Blacksburg before the start of the regular season. The event will take place at the Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.

Both the men’s and the women’s teams will participate in the event. Activities will include the unveiling of post-season banners for both teams and the men’s team will be awarded their NCAA Tournament rings. Fans will also get a chance to see the new, redesigned playing court and sit in the new seating, installed in the coliseum during the summer.

Entertainment for the event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be provided by DJ TMMPO, along with the Marching Virginians’ drumline. Jon Laaser will be the emcee for the event. There will be shooting and skills contests with fan participation in selected contests. This will be fans first opportunity to see the teams before they open their seasons on Nov. 10.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early enough to support the volleyball team, as they host ACC rival Wake Forest at 6:30 p.m., prior to Hokie Hoops Madness. Admission is free to the volleyball match.

Also on Friday, Oct. 20 is the annual men’s basketball Tip Off Banquet in Hahn Hurst. For details pertaining to that event which will be held prior to Hokie Hoops Madness, please visit https://vtmbbtipoff2017.eventbrite.com.

Season tickets for men’s basketball go on sale Oct. 5 to the general public, with women’s basketball season tickets on sale the following week. Please visit HokieTickets.com for more information.
