Basketball season ticket renewals available June 7
New pricing structure to be implemented
June 5, 2017
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department has announced season ticket renewals for the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons will begin on June 7.
This season, Cassell Coliseum will have a new look and feel, as approximately 3,500 new, wider padded seats have replaced some of the old, narrow wooden seats. With these new seats, there will be a slight reduction in seating capacity. After consistent pricing the previous three seasons, men’s basketball ticket prices are changing, with a fourth pricing tier added and variance in pricing increases and decreases. Women’s basketball ticket prices will also see slight increases in pricing, for the first time since the school joined the ACC.
Hokie Club Scholarship Fund members and last season’s basketball season ticket holders should soon be receiving individual men’s and women’s basketball ticket catalogs in the mail with important information on pricing, Hokie Scholarship Fund giving, reseating, and ordering deadlines.
Season tickets can be renewed by visiting http://vthoki.es/TixAcct. Renewals are available online, in person at the Athletics Ticket Office in Lane Stadium or by mailing in the printed order form included in the ticket booklets.
Popular incentives for season ticket holders return and the variety of ticket options continue to allow fans to customize multiple areas of their in-game experience.
Benefits from purchasing either men’s or women’s basketball season tickets or both include savings over individual game tickets, option to purchase mini plans and single game tickets before the public, in-game recognitions and more.
“These are exciting times for our men’s and women’s basketball programs,” Director of Athletics Whit Babcock said. “The growth and momentum in both programs from last season is palpable and Cassell Coliseum has once again become the place to be in college basketball. One thing the true fan of college basketball knows is, when you come to Cassell, you will be entertained.”
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The popular tiered ticket pricing returns once again this season, with a new level added to allow for even more flexibility in pricing. The primary, high-demand areas, “The Paint” has season tickets available for $550. The mid-range areas, “The Top of the Key” are priced at $400, and “Beyond the Arc” are $220 for a season’s seat. New this season is the mid-range tier “High Post”, which will be $475. With the anticipation of 18 home games, ticket prices will be increasing by an average of $1 per game, with the new fourth area decreasing by more than $2 per game.
Tech’s season ticket pricing is near the average for ACC basketball season tickets. The pricing change is also the first increase since a $5 increase prior to the 2013-14 season. Prior to that, the largest increase occurred before the 2011-12 season when prices increased almost 20%, from $415 to $490.
Also new this year is the implementation of the Hokie Scholarship Seating. Cassell will see a full reseating with certain donation minimums associated with various sections, similar to Lane Stadium. Note: if the minimum gift level required for desired seating in Cassell Coliseum is less than that of the donation associated with football season tickets or football parking, an additional donation will not be required.
The Hokies are coming off an exceptional season. The team finished the season 22-11 overall and 10-8 in the ACC. Tech earned its first NCAA bid in a decade and posted its second consecutive 20-win season. Tech was 15-2 at home, including a 7-2 record in ACC play. Along with returning six of its top eight scorers, the Hokies welcome a top 25 recruiting class.
The popular Early Bird Special returns this year. Fans who take advantage of this and order season tickets by the June 22 deadline will receive a replica NCAA Tournament banner. To ensure priority seat selection, season tickets must be purchased by July 20.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
For women’s basketball games, season tickets are available for $100 for an adult reserved seat ($90 for faculty/staff), $40 for a youth reserved seat, $80 for an adult general admission season pass and $35 for a youth general admission season pass. The $10 price increase applies to all four season ticket options, and is the first increase since 2004.
Last season, in his first year at Virginia Tech, Kenny Brooks led the Hokies back into the post season. Tech opened the season winning its first 15 games and advanced to the quarterfinals of the WNIT. Now, with a full year of recruiting under his belt, Brooks has the Hokies poised to make more/greater? strides in the always-tough ACC.
Additional benefits for purchasing women’s basketball season tickets include free parking adjacent to Cassell Coliseum, exclusive giveaways, opportunities for messages on the video board, and more. Those who renew by the early bird deadline of June 22 will receive a replica mini basketball.
As this is a full reseating year for women’s basketball games, all reserved seating will be moved to the West side of Cassell Coliseum. General Admission seating is available on the east. Courtside at Cassell seating for women’s basketball games is sold out for the 2017-18 season.
