RALEIGH, N.C. – Virginia Tech lost to NC State, 104-78, in ACC men’s basketball action Wednesday night in PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tech falls to 12-2 overall and 1-1 in league play, while NC State improves to 12-3 overall and 1-1 in ACC action.

The Wolfpack led the entire game and took a 55-30 lead into the intermission. Tech opened the second half on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 15 points, when Ahmed Hill hit a three-pointer with 16:51 to play. After NC State stretched the lead back to as many 29 points, Tech made a few more runs, but could get no closer than 15 points, when Justin Robinson made a lay-up with 4:35 to play.

The Hokies played without starting post player Khadim Sy, who injured his ankle in the afternoon shoot around. Tech also played a portion of the second half without Seth Allen, who was injured in the first half.

Hill led four Hokies in double figures with 17 points. Zach LeDay added 16 points and six rebounds. Chris Clarke scored 15 points and had five assists and Robinson added 13 points and five assists for Virginia Tech.

Dennis Smith Jr., recorded the second triple-double in NC State history, as he led all scorers with 27 points. He also had 11 rebounds and 11 assists in the contest. Terry Henderson had 22 points and Abdul-Malik Abu had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wolfpack out rebounded Tech, 40-25 and shot 64.1 percent from the field. The Hokies were 13-of-30 from behind the three-point arc, for 43.3 percent. The 13 three-pointers marks a season-high for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Tallahassee, to take on Florida State. Game time is 2 p.m. and the game will be shown live on The ACC Network.
