ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Virginia Tech men's basketball team will play the University of New Mexico on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m. ET in Titan Gym on the campus of Cal. State Fullerton. This is a first round game of the 2016 Wooden Legacy.

THE HOKIES (3-0)
The Hokies are 3-0 to open the 2016-17 season. Most recently, the Hokies defeated VMI, 88-72, in Cassell Coliseum on Saturday night. Four Hokies are currently averaging in double figures, led by Zach LeDay, who is averaging 18.3 points per game and has two double-doubles in the first three games of the season.
THE LOBOS (3-0)
New Mexico enters the game 3-0 on the season. In the Lobos’ last game, UNM defeated New Mexico State, 72-59, at WisePies Arena in Albuquerque last Friday night. The Lobos are led in scoring by redshirt senior Tim Williams, averaging 23.0 points per game.
THE SERIES
This is just the third all-time meeting between the two schools and the Hokies have won both previous meetings. The last time the two school met was on March, 18, 1973, as the Hokies defeated the Lobos, 65-63, in the first round of the 1973 NIT in Madison Square Garden. The Hokies went on to win the title that year. The other meeting was a 58-45 Tech win in Blacksburg on Feb. 5, 1941. Tech is 2-2 all-time against schools currently in the Mountain West Conference.
