About Tonight's Game
Tonight is the season opener for the Hokies and the Black Bears … Tech advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2016 ACC Tournament and the second round of the 2016 NIT.
Starting Off the Season
The Hokies are 49-4 all-time in home openers in Cassell Coliseum … Tech is 10-2 in home openers since joining the ACC in 2004 … Tech lost to Alabama State, 85-82, in last season’s opener.
Series Against the Black Bears
This is the first-ever meeting between the Hokies and the Black Bears … Tech is 4-0 all-time against teams currently in the America East Conference … This is the first of two games against America East opponents this season for the Hokies.
What We Return
The Hokies return their top four players in scoring average from last season and eight of the top nine … Tech returns the top five players in rebounding average … Only one player that averaged at least 20 minutes per game last year does not return this season.
