This was Bibbs’ second career double-double, as he had 22 points and 11 rebounds against Syracuse in Cassell Coliseum last season ... In his three career games against the Orange, Bibbs is averaging 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
A Double Fact
When Justin Bibbs recorded his first double-double of the season at Syracuse on Tuesday night, the Hokies now have four players to record double-doubles this season ... That is the highest number of Tech players with at least one double-double in a season since the 2012-13 season, when five Hokies hit the mark.
Hokies and Tigers Keep It Close
The series between the Hokies and Tigers has had a habit of producing close games ... Since Tech joined the ACC in the 2004-05 season, 11 of the 17 games have been decided by five-or-fewer-points ... Many of the games have been decided in the last minute of the game ... In ACC play, only two of the Clemson - Virginia Tech match-ups have seen double-figure victories, as Tech downed the Tigers, 70-59, in Cassell Coliseum on Feb. 6, 2010, and the Tigers defeated the Hokies, 75-54, in Littlejohn Coliseum ... A Pit Stop from the Road
Today’s game is the Hokies’ only home game between Tech’s Jan. 27 game against Louisville and the Feb. 20 home game against Florida State ... And following the Florida State game, the Hokies hit the road again for two games (at Boston College and at Wake Forest) before returning to Cassell Coliseum on March 2 to face Pittsburgh and then finish the regular season at home against Miami ... Tech opened the 2016 ACC schedule with three home games before classes began on Jan. 19 and the Miami game will be the first Saturday of Spring Break.
