Virginia Tech vs. No. 2/2 North Carolina Game Notes

Virginia Tech will host No. 2/2 North Carolina on Sunday evening in Cassell Coliseum. Due to adverse weather conditions, the game is now scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip and will be televised by ESPN3 and ESPNU. The game will be part of “Stripe the Coliseum” night.

About This Afternoon’s Game

The Hokies enter this afternoon's game 12-7 overall and 4-2 in ACC action … North Carolina is 17-2 on the season and 6-0 in league play ... The Tar Heels are ranked second in both polls this week.

Last Time Out: Notre Dame 83, VT 81

The Hokies dropped a heart-breaker at Notre Dame, 83-81, on Wednesday night ... Tech led through most of the game, before the Irish took a late lead ... Down two with less than 10 seconds remaining, Seth Allen’s three-point attempt rimmed out and Notre Dame held on for the victory ... Zach LeDay led the Hokies with 22 points and Allen added 20 points ... Justin Bibbs scored 12 points and Shane Henry pitched in with 11 points.

Series Against The Tar Heels

The Tar Heels lead the all-time series, 65-13 … UNC has won the last five meetings, most recently a 68-53 win in Chapel Hill last season ... Tech is 2-7 against the Tar Heels in Cassell Coliseum and 2-5 in ACC home games against UNC.

Generous to His Teammates

At Notre Dame on Jan. 20, the Hokies’ Seth Allen dished out a career-high eight assists ... That is a team, season-high and the most assists for a Hokie in an ACC game since Devin Wilson had 11 assists against Duke on Feb. 25 of last season ... It is the most assists by a Hokie in an ACC road games since Erick Green had eight assists at NC State on Feb. 16, 2013.
