Virginia Tech hits to road to South Bend to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday night. The game, set for a 7 p.m. tip-off, will be televised by regional sports networks.

The Hokies pick up a big road ACC win at Georgia Tech, 78-77, on Saturday afternoon ... The Hokies came back from a 15-point first half deficit and a 10-point deficit with 4:32 remaining to earn the win ... Zach LeDay scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Hokies and Seth Allen scored 13 points, all in the second half and 11 points coming from the free throw line.

Series Against The Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series, 5-1 … Notre Dame has won the last five meetings, most recently an 85-60 win in Blacksburg last season ... Tech is 0-2 against Notre Dame in ACC games … This series has been played not only in Blacksburg and South Bend, but also in Madison Square Garden.

The First Time We Met

This is just the seventh meeting in this series, but the first one was quite memorable for the Hokies ... Tech defeated Notre Dame, 92-91 in overtime for the championship of the 1973 NIT in Madison Square Garden ... Bobby Stevens hit the game-winner to give the Hokies the title, the first of two NIT titles for Virginia Tech.

Snapping Another Road Streak

When the Hokies defeated Georgia Tech, 78-77, in Atlanta on Saturday, it snapped an 18-game ACC road losing streak for the Hokies ... Tech’s last ACC road win before the Georgia Tech game had been a 61-60 overtime victory at defending ACC Champion Miami on Dec. 8, 2013 ... Earlier in the season, Tech defeated Radford, 74-65, in the Dedmon Center to record its first road victory since that same Miami game.

A Rising Number

The Hokies are currently shooting 67.2 percent from the free throw line and 72.3 percent in ACC games ... Tech entered ACC play shooting 65.4 percent from the line and had been as low as 65.1 percent, following the Lamar game ... Tech has made 99-of-137 from the line in ACC action, averaging 27.4 attempts per game in league play.
