The Hokies lost at No. 14/10 Duke, 82-58, on Saturday afternoon … Zach LeDay led the Hokies with 18 points and nine rebounds and Kerry Blackshear Jr., came off the bench with 12 points and five rebounds.
Series Against The Demon Deacons
The series, which dates back to 1912, is tied, 30-30 … The Hokies won the last meeting, 81-80 in the first round of last season’s ACC Tournament in the Greensboro Coliseum … Tech is 21-10 in home games in the series and 13-7 in games played in Cassell Coliseum … This series has been played not only in Blacksburg and Winston-Salem, but also in Wake Forest, N.C. (the original home of Wake Forest University), Greensboro, Roanoke, Raleigh and Tampa, Florida.

This is the second of four 9 p.m. tip-offs for the Hokies this season in ACC action … Tech won the first such game, a 70-68 win over No. 4/4 Virginia on Jan. 4, at home in Cassell Coliseum ... The Hokies’ last two 9 p.m. tips will be mid-week road games, Feb. 17 at Miami and Feb. 23 at Boston College.

So far in ACC play, Virginia Tech is averaging just 24.3 points per first half ... But when the intermission is over, Tech comes out and is averaging 38.7 points per second half ... When you add in the 12 points scored in overtime in the win over Virginia, the Hokies are averaging 42.7 points following halftime, compared to 37.7 points for their opponents.
A Difference in TOs
So far in ACC action this season, the Hokies are averaging 9.0 turnovers per game and are forcing its opponents to 13.0 turnovers per game ... Last season, the Hokies averaged 10.7 turnovers per game in conference play, while forcing 10.6 turnovers per game.
JRob Taking Care of the Ball
So far in conference play, freshman point guard Justin Robinson has 10 assists and just two turnovers, while averaging 22.7 minutes played per game ... In the win over Virginia, he posted one of his best games as a Hokie ... The freshman point guard came off the bench to see 24 minutes of action and handed out a game-high six assists, while not committing a turnover ... He is tied for third in ACC action in assist/turnover ratio ... As a team, the Hokies are second in turnover margin in ACC play.
