DURHAM, N.C. – Virginia Tech lost to No. 14/10 Duke, 82-58, in ACC men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The loss drops Tech to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Blue Devils improve to 14-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC action.
Duke jumped out to a big early lead, on the strength of making seven of its first 12 three-point attempts. The Blue Devils took a 50-23 lead into the half and never trailed in the contest.
Duke out rebounded the Hokies, 42-33, and held Tech to just one of 12 from three-point range. Tech shot 37.5 percent for the game, including 48.1 percent in the second half.
Zach LeDay led the Hokies with 18 points and nine rebounds, scoring 16 of his points after intermission. Kerry Blackshear Jr., added 12 points off the bench for Tech. Marshall Plumlee led five Blue Devils in double-figures, with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Tech returns to action on Wednesday night, as they host Wake Forest in Cassell Coliseum. The game will tip-off at 9 p.m., and will be shown on regional sports networks.
