Series Against The Hawks

We’re In A New York State of Mind

Today will be the third game that Virginia Tech has played in the Barclays Center ... Tech lost to No. 1 Michigan State and Seton Hall in the 2013 Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic ... The Hokies have done quite well during the Holidays in the metropolitan area, as they won the 2007 and the 2008 Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden ... Tech also won the 1973 and 1995 NIT Championships at the Garden.

Bibbs’ Big Night

In the Hokies’ win over Grambling State, sophomore wing Justin Bibbs posted his top career game ... Playing just 29 minutes, Bibbs came off the bench to score a career-high 31 points, 21 points coming off of a seven-for-10 performance from beyond the arc, also a career-high for him ... The seven three-pointers ties a school record for threes in a game, co-held by Malcolm Delaney, Zabian Dowdell and Wally Lancaster, who was one of the first great three-point shooters in NCAA history ... The 31 points in the most by a Hokie this season and the most by a Virginia Tech player since Jalen Hudson scored 32 points in the win over Wake Forest in last season’s ACC Tournament.

A Lot of Doubles

With Kerry Blackshear Jr’s double-double in the win over Grambling, the Hokies now have 11 double-doubles for the season, tops among ACC teams ... This is the most double-doubles for the Hokies in a single season since the 2010-11 season, when the Hokies recorded 18 double-doubles.
