Hokies host Grambling State
Tech, Tigers meet for the first time

Virginia Tech returns from an exam break and will host Grambling State on Saturday evening in Cassell Coliseum. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip and will be shown on ESPN3.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies enter tonight’s game 7-3 on the season ... Grambling State is 2-8 on the season.

Last Time Out: VT 88, Lamar 53

The Hokies jumped out to a big early lead and never trailed in the 88-53 win over Lamar on Sunday afternoon in Cassell Coliseum ... Six Hokies scored in double figures, led by Zach LeDay, who had 19 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season ... Justin Bibbs added 17 points, tying a career-high with five three-pointers ... Kerry Blackshear Jr. recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Series Against The Tigers

This will be the first meeting in the series between the two schools … The Hokies are 3-1 all-time against current members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

KB Jr. Earns ACC Rookie Honor

Kerry Blackshear Jr., has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 13 2015, as selected by a 15-member media panel ... Blackshear put together his two best games of the season last week, with a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds at Radford and his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds against Lamar.

Bibbs Near the Top

Following a career-high five three-pointers in the win over Lamar, Justin Bibbs now second in Division I and first in the ACC in three-point field goal percentage, at 62.5 percent ... He has made 25 of his 40 attempts this season and now shoots 47.0 percent from three for his Virginia Tech career.

Freshmen Doubles

Kerry Blackshear Jr. and Chris Clarke have each recorded a double-double so far this season ... This is the first time since the 2007-08 season that two Hokies have recorded double-doubles in their freshman seasons ... Jeff Allen and JT Thompson accomplished the feat that season.

Big at the Break

The Hokies scored 51 points in the first half of the win over Lamar ... That’s the most points in a half this season and the most points in a half since the Hokies scored 51 points in the first half of an 87-74 win over VMI in Cassell Coliseum on Dec. 22, 2014.

Dishing It Out

Seth Allen recorded a career high (at Virginia Tech) seven assists in the win over Lamar ... That’s the most assists by a Virginia Tech player this season and the most by a Tech player since Devin Wilson had 11 assists against Duke last season.
