A Golden Opportunity

Virginia Tech sophomore wing Justin Bibbs won a gold medal as a member of the championship USA team at the FIBA U19 World Championship, held in late June and early July in Heraklion, Crete, Greece ... Bibbs becomes the first Hokie to win a gold medal in a sanctioned USA Basketball FIBA world championship.

Hopefully, First of Many

In the Hokies’ win over Jacksonville State, freshman Chris Clarke recorded his first double-double of the season and his career with 12 points and 11 rebounds ... The last Virginia Tech freshman to record a double-double was Justin Bibbs, who scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Syracuse on Jan. 3, 2015 ... Clarke has recorded double figures in both games this season.

Big Day on the Boards

The Hokies had 54 rebounds in the win over Jacksonville State ... That is the most rebounds in a game for Tech since Dec. 9, 2009, when the Hokies grabbed 59 rebounds against VMI in Cassell Coliseum ... The rebounding differential of +25 is the most for the Hokies since they outrebounded Longwood, 52-27, on Dec. 14, 2008, in Cassell Coliseum.
