Blacksburg, Va. – Virginia Tech head men’s basketball coach Buzz Williams has announced the promotion of Cara Jacobson to the position of Assistant to the Head Coach.
Jacobson is in her second year with the Hokies, as she served last season as the program’s administrative assistant. As Assistant to the Head Coach, Jacobson will continue in many of the same duties as in the past, but will take on added responsibilities within the program. Jacobson will work with all administrative and logistical planning for the program and the coaching staff.
“Cara has been an integral part of our daily operations since she arrived,” Williams said. “She is more than deserving of this promotion to a faculty position as her responsibilities have continued to evolve and grow during her time here. She is the fulcrum for any and everything off the floor in our program not only for me, but our entire staff, and we are all cheering for her as her career advances.”
She graduated from Marquette University in 2014 with a degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting and finance. As an undergraduate, she worked in the Golden Eagle men’s basketball office for two years, handling a wide variety of responsibilities, including working with Buzz’s Bunch and summer camps. She also performed internships with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Hoffman York Connect in accounting.
The Shorewood, Wisconsin native also was a four-year letterwinner in women’s soccer at Marquette. She was the team captain as a senior, when she was selected third-team All-Big East Conference and was a third-team NSCAA All-Region Scholar selection. She was a member of the Marquette Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as being named to the Dean’s List in the College of Business and was a four-time member of the Big East Conference All-Academic team.
