Blacksburg, Va. – Virginia Tech men’s basketball student-athlete Ahmed Hill underwent successful surgery on his left leg on Tuesday afternoon, August 11. The surgery was performed by Dr. Tony McPherron at LewisGale Montgomery Hospital.
Hill, a rising sophomore from Augusta, Georgia, suffered a partial tear to the patella tendon in his left leg during individual workouts earlier this month. Following further evaluations, it was decided that surgery would be needed. No timetable has been set for his return to the court, but he is expected to miss all preseason conditioning activities.
Hill appeared in all 33 games as a freshman for the Hokies in the 2014-15 season, making a team-high 30 starts. He averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
