CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Virginia Tech lost to Miami, 76-52, in ACC men’s basketball action on Wednesday night at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables.
Tech jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening minutes of the contest on three-point field goals by Ahmed Hill and Adam Smith and a lay-up by Malik Müller. The game remained close throughout the first half, as Miami took a 29-26 lead into the half.
The Hurricanes opened the second half on a 5-0 run and never trailed after the intermission. Miami held the Hokies to just 31.8 percent from the field.
Adam Smith led the Hokies with 15 points, making three-of-five three-pointers in the game. Justin Bibbs and Devin Wilson scored 11 points each in the loss. Virginia Tech is now 10-16 overall and 2-11 in ACC action, while Miami improves to 17-9 overall and 7-6 in league play.
The Hokies complete this three-game road swing on Saturday evening, as they travel to Raleigh to take on NC State. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
