BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech forward Christian Beyer has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Beyer represents District 3, which is comprised of Division I schools from Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Beyer, a senior from New Bern, North Carolina, joined the Hokies in 2012 as a walk-on and earned a scholarship for this, his final semester at Virginia Tech. He will graduate in May, 2015, with a degree in human nutrition, food & exercise. He is in the process of interviewing and being accepted into medical school for the fall of 2015.
Beyer has played in 14 games for the Hokies this season, starting twice. He is averaging 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in all games this season, numbers that improve to 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game against ACC opponents.
The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
