Guard selected by both media and coaches

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech guard Devin Wilson has been named to the 2014 ACC All-Freshman team, as selected by members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) and the league’s coaches. Both votes were announced Monday afternoon.

Wilson, a freshman from McKees Rocks, Pa., leads the Hokies in minutes played, assists and steals this season. He set new Virginia Tech freshman single-season records with 1,043 minutes played, 143 assists and 178 free throws attempted. Wilson also set an overall Virginia Tech record with 80 assists during the regular season. He ranks third in the ACC with 4.8 assists per game and is the only Hokie to start all 30 games this season.

Wilson is joined on both All-Freshman teams by Jabari Parker of Duke, Tyler Ennis of Syracuse, London Perrantes of Virginia and Kennedy Meeks of North Carolina. He is the first Hokie to be selected to the all-freshman team since Dorian Finney-Smith in 2012. Jeff Allen in 2008 and Deron Washington in 2005 also have been named to the team in past years.
