Hokies return to Cassell Coliseum to host Miami

Virginia Tech vs. Miami Game Notes

Virginia Tech returns to Cassell Coliseum on Saturday evening to host defending ACC champion Miami. The game, to be televised on regional sports networks, is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m.

About This Evening’s Game

The Hokies are 8-15 on the season and 1-10 in ACC action.

The Hurricanes are 12-12 overall and 3-8 in the ACC after a 77-73 win at Florida State on Monday night.

The Hurricanes lead the all-time series, 13-11.

No. 25/22 Pitt 62, Virginia Tech 57, 2OT

The Hokies dropped a heart-breaker, 62-57, in double overtime at No. 25/22 Pittsburgh last Saturday afternoon.

Jarell Eddie led the Hokies with 15 points and Devin Wilson and Joey van Zegeren scored 10 points each for Tech.

Cadarian Raines came off the bench and grabbed 11 rebounds, nine boards coming off the offensive glass.

Welcome Whit Babcock

On Friday, Jan. 24, Whit Babcock was hired as the new Director of Athletics at Virginia Tech.

Babcock is a 1992 graduate of James Madison University and a native Virginian.

He will begin his duties at Virginia Tech on Feb. 17

Scoring 1,000

Jarell Eddie currently has 1,092 points at Virginia Tech and is 38th in career scoring for the Hokies.

Injury Update

Adam Smith (left calf strain) is out for this evening’s game and C.J. Barksdale (strained groin) is questionable for the game.

ACC Legend

Bobby Stevens has been named Virginia Tech’s “ACC Legend” for 2014.
