BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech will enter the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament as the 12th seed and will face fifth seed NC State in the first round on Thursday afternoon. The game will be the second game of the first day’s first session at the Greensboro Coliseum, tipping off at approximately 2:30 p.m. ESPNU and The ACC Network will televise the game live.
The winner of the Virginia Tech – NC State game will play fourth-seed Virginia at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Hokies are 13-18 overall and finished 4-14 in ACC play. The Wolfpack are 22-9 overall and 11-7 in conference play. The Wolfpack won the only meeting between the two teams in the regular season. NC State defeated Tech, 90-86, in overtime in PNC Arena on Feb. 16. Jarell Eddie tipped in a purposely-missed Erick Green free throw in the final seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. Green led all scorers with 29 points.
Miami is the top seed in the tournament, Duke is the second seed, North Carolina is the third seed and Virginia is the fourth seed. All games of the ACC Tournament will be broadcast live on the Virginia Tech IMG Sports Network.
