Virginia Tech vs. No. 3/4 Duke Game Notes

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech will travel to Durham on Tuesday to take on No. 3/4 Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPNU.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies are 13-16 on the season and 4-12 in ACC play after a 69-61 home win over Clemson in Cassell Coliseum on Senior Night.

Duke is 25-4 overall and 12-4 in ACC action after a 79-76 win over #5/7 Miami on Saturday evening in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils are ranked third in the AP poll and fourth in the coaches poll.

Virginia Tech 69, Clemson 61

Erick Green led all scorers with 29 points, as the Hokies defeated Clemson, 69-61, on Senior Night in Cassell Coliseum on Saturday night. C.J. Barksdale scored 14 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and Robert Brown scored 13 points in the win.

Green Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC and the nation in scoring.

Green has scored 20-or-more points in 26 of the 29 games this season.

In the win over Clemson, Green became the third Hokie to score 700 points in a season.

Player Notes

Will Johnston made his first career start at Virginia and has started three games since.

C.J. Barksdale has scored in double figures in each of the last four games. Robert Brown has scored in double figures in each of the last three games.

Odds & Ends

The Hokies have played in four of the six overtime games played this season by ACC teams. Tech defeated Georgia Tech and lost at UNC and at NC State in the only ACC conference overtime games this season.

The Hokies started four Virginians at Virginia. All five starters graduated from high schools in Virginia.

Virginia Tech shot 54.8 percent from the field in the win over Clemson. That is the highest field goal percentage of the year for the Hokies.

Tonight is the Hokies’ third game against a top 10 team in the last 12 days.
