Virginia Tech at Clemson Game Notes

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech travels to Clemson to take on the Tigers at Littlejohn Coliseum. The game tips off at 1 p.m. on Sunday and will be televised by The ACC Network.

About Today’s Game

The Hokies are 11-7 on the season and 2-3in ACC play after losing to Virginia, 74-58, in Cassell Coliseum on Thursday night.

Clemson is 10-8 overall and 2-4 in ACC action after a 60-57 loss at Florida State on Thursday.

The two schools have played 13 times since Virginia Tech joined the ACC and each team has totaled 905 points in those 13 games.

Erick Green scored a career-high 35 points in the loss to Virginia. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the game. The Hokies out rebounds UVa, 32-24, but allowed the Cavaliers to shoot 51 percent from the field.

Wood Returns

Virginia Tech freshman forward Marshall Wood, who fractured the third metatarsal in his left foot in the loss to Georgia Southern on Dec. 15, returned to action in the loss to Virginia. Wood played seven minutes in his return.

Green Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC and the nation in scoring.

Green has scored 20-or-more points in 17 games of the 18 games this season.

Honors for Green

Erick Green has been named a watch list finalist for the Bob Cousey Award, given annually to the top point guard in the nation. Green has also been named to the John R. Wooden Award’s Midseason Top 25. Wooden Award given to nation’s best player.

Odds & Ends

Erick Green's 35 points in the loss to Virginia marks the most points by an ACC player in a game this season. Green has two of the ACC’s five 30-plus point games this season.

The Hokies’ two largest comeback victories this season have come in their two overtime games, both victories. Tech was down 13 points against Bradley and 11 points at Georgia Tech.

The Hokies have played in two of the four overtime games played this season by ACC teams. Tech defeated Georgia Tech in the only ACC conference overtime game this season.
