BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia renew a long-standing rivalry on Thursday night, as the Cavaliers come to Cassell Coliseum for an 8 p.m. game, to be televised by The ACC Network.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies are 11-6 on the season and 2-2 in ACC play after defeating Wake Forest, 66-65, Saturday in Cassell Coliseum.

Virginia is 12-5 overall and 2-2 in ACC action after a 56-36 win over Florida State on Saturday.

This is the Hokies’ most-played rivalry.

Virginia Tech 66, Wake Forest 65

Erick Green scored 22 points to lead the Hokies to the win over Wake Forest. Jarell Eddie scored 18 points. Cadarian Raines tied a career-high with 13 rebounds, to go along with four blocked shots and three assists.

Wood Out

Virginia Tech freshman forward Marshall Wood is out indefinitely after fracturing the third metatarsal in his left foot in the loss to Georgia Southern. He will be a game-time decision for tonight’s game.

Green Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC and the nation in scoring.

Green has scored 20-or-more points in 16 games of the 17 games this season.

Honors for Green

Erick Green has been named a watch list finalist for the Bob Cousey Award, given annually to the top point guard in the nation. Green has also been named to the John R. Wooden Award’s Midseason Top 25. Wooden Award given to nation’s best player.

Odds & Ends

Erick Green leads the ACC in scoring and Jarell Eddie is second in the ACC in free-throw percentage. Green is second in the league in minutes played and fifth in the league in free-throw percentage. The Hokies lead the ACC in free-throw percentage as a team.

Christian Beyer has grabbed 50 of his 52 rebounds in his last eight appearances.

The Hokies’ two largest comeback victories this season have come in their two overtime games, both victories. Tech was down 13 points against Bradley and 11 points at Georgia Tech.
