Alumni Weekend game part of Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic
Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Southern Game Notes

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech will host Georgia Southern in the second round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. The game, part of Men's Basketball Alumni Weekend, will tip-off at 2 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN3.

About Today’s Game

The Hokies are 8-1 on the season after defeating Mississippi Valley State, 70-49, on Monday.

GSU is is 3-5 on the season after defeating Brewton-Parker, 79-56, on Saturday.

Tech is 5-0 all-time against Georgia Southern.

Erick Green scored 23 points to lead all scorers.

Marquis Rankin recoded a career-high 10 points off the bench in the win.

This was the second round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.

The New Boss

This season marks the head coaching debut of James Johnson.

Green is Honored

Erick Green was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 25. This is the second consecutive week he has earned the award.

He was also named National Player of the Week by both SI.com and NBCSports.com that week.

The Hokies are tied for ninth nationally in scoring offense, tied for 12th in free throw percentage and 22nd in blocked shots.

Player Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC in scoring and Jarell Eddie is seventh in the league in scoring.

Will Johnston has made 10 career field goals. All 10 are three-pointers. He hit three of them in the win over VMI, setting a new career-high of nine points and matched that number in the win at UNC Greensboro.

Erick Green is second nationally in scoring, Will Johnston is tied for 31st in 3pt. FG percentage.
