Hokies travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia
Tech, Mountaineers renew rivalry on the court

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech and West Virginia will renew their rivalry on the hardwood this weekend. Tech, 7-0 on the season, will play WVU for the 76th time, but the first time since the 2003-04 season, when the Hokies swept the Mountaineers.

About Today’s Game

The Hokies are 7-0 on the season after defeating No. 15/17 Oklahoma State, 81-71, in Cassell Coliseum last Saturday.

West Virginia is 3-3 on the season after defeating Marshall, 69-59 on Wednesday.

WVU leads the all-time series, 46-29.

Erick Green scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Hokies to the victory.

Robert Brown score 18 points and Jarell Eddie posted his second double-double of the season, with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The New Boss

This season marks the head coaching debut of James Johnson.

Johnson earned his first head coaching victory with an 80-62 win over ETSU.

Green is Honored

Erick Green has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 25. This is the second consecutive week he has earned the award.

He was also named National Player of the Week by both SI.com and NBCSports.com.

Team Notes

The Hokies are off to the team’s best start since the 1982-83 season.

The Hokies are tied for third nationally in scoring offense, tied for 9th in free throw percentage, 24th in field goal percentage and tied for 25th in three-point field goal percentage.

Player Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC in scoring and Jarell Eddie is third in the league in scoring.

Will Johnston has made 10 career field goals. All 10 are three-pointers. He hit three of them in the win over VMI, setting a new career-high of nine points and matched that number in the win at UNC Greensboro.

Erick Green is second nationally in scoring, Will Johnston is tied for 8th in 3pt. FG percentage and Jarell Eddie is tied for 26th in free throw percentage.
