Green earns ACC Co-Player of the Week
Senior guard wins the award for second consecutive week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech guard Erick Green has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week, for the week ending Dec. 2. The honor was selected by a panel of media members in the ACC region. This is the second consecutive week that Green has earned the honor.

Green, a senior from Winchester, Va., averaged 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists as the undefeated Hokies posted homecourt wins over Iowa and No. 15 Oklahoma State. In Tuesday’s 95-79 win over the Hawkeyes, Green was 8-for-15 from the field and led all scorers with 24 points to go along with five assists and five rebounds. In Saturday’s 81-71 victory over the Cowboys, Green had career-highs in points (28) and rebounds (seven) in just 26 minutes of action, due to early foul trouble. Green has scored at least 20 points in all seven games this season and leads the ACC in scoring (24.9).

This is the second time Green has won the honor in his career. He shares the award with Mason Plumlee of Duke. The Blue Devils’ Rasheed Sulaimon was named Rookie of the Week.

The Hokies return to action Saturday, Dec. 8, as they travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to play the West Virginia Mountaineers. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 4 p.m.
