BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech Hokies will host the Hawkeyes of Iowa in the 2012 Dick's Sporting Goods ACC/Big Ten Challenge. This will be the third time Tech and Iowa have met in the Challenge, with the Hokies winning both previous meetings.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies are 5-0 on the season after defeating Appalachian State, 87-76, on Friday.

Iowa is 5-1 on the season after losing to Wichita State, 75-63, on Wednesday night in Cancun.

Virginia Tech leads the all-time series, 2-0.

Erick Green scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Hokies to an 87-76 win over Appalachian State on Friday.

Jarell Eddie added 23 points and Marshall Wood scored 13 points in the win.

The New Boss

This season marks the head coaching debut of James Johnson.

Johnson earned his first head coaching victory with an 80-62 win over ETSU on Saturday.

Green is Honored

Erick Green has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 25. He recorded back-to-back career-highs in scoring during that span.

Team Notes

The Hokies are off to the team’s best start since the 2004-05 season.

Five games into the season and only two Hokies have commited double figures in turnovers.

Player Notes

Erick Green leads the ACC in scoring.

Green has made his last 31 free throw attempts.

Will Johnston has made nine career field goals. All nine are three-pointers. He hit three of them in the win over VMI, setting a new career-high of nine points and matched that number in the win at UNC Greensboro on Monday night.

Jarell Eddie and Erick Green combined for 25 of the Hokies’ final 26 points in the win at UNC Greensboro.
