Tech basketball to hold annual Montgomery County Christmas Store Nights

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams have set the dates for the annual Montgomery County Christmas Store Nights, beginning when the men host Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m. The second night is on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:00 p.m. when the women host Wisconsin. These games are part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, matching teams from each conference in head-to-head competition.

All fans are encouraged to donate a new unwrapped toy to the Christmas Store; in exchange they will receive a coupon good for free admission to any remaining regular season women's basketball game. The Hokies are hoping to fill the shelves of the Christmas Store so the toys can be distributed to children in the area who are less fortunate.

The store was founded with the idea that qualified people could choose, with no exchange of money, their own Christmas items to suit their family needs. The store's initial goal was to assist low-income families of Montgomery County in the most efficient and dignified manner. To be qualified, recipients must be permanent residents of Montgomery County and they must meet all of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
