Tech to play third game in five days

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Hokies and VMI will renew their long-standing rivalry in Cassell Coliseum on Thursday night.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies are 2-0 on the season after defeating Rhode Island, 69-50, on Monday night.

VMI is 1-2 on the season after defeating Central Penn, 116-81, on Tuesday.

Virginia Tech leads the all-time series, 86-43.

Virginia Tech 69, Rhode Island 50

Erick Green tied a career-high with 25 points to lead the Hokies to a 69-50 win over Rhode Island on Monday night.

Cadarian Raines recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds and Robert Brown scored 12 points for the Hokies.

The New Boss

This season marks the head coaching debut of James Johnson.

Johnson earned his first head coaching victory with an 80-62 win over ETSU on Saturday.

Near a Milestone

Erick Green enters tonight’s game with 987 career points.

He needs 13 points to become the 43rd person in school history to record 1,000 career points.

This is the Hokies’ third game in the first five days of the season.
