Hokies to face Clemson in first round of ACC Tournament
Tech is the 10th seed in the tournament, which begins Thursday in Atlanta

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech will enter the 59th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament as the 10th seed and will face seventh seed Clemson in the first round on Thursday night. The game will be the first game of the first day’s second session at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, tipping off at 7 p.m. ESPNU and The ACC Network will televise the game live.

The winner of the Virginia Tech – Clemson game will play second-seed Duke at 7 p.m. on Friday night. The Hokies are 15-16 overall and finished 4-12 in ACC play. The Tigers are 16-14 overall and 8-8 in conference play. The two teams split the season series against each other, with each team winning on their home courts. The two teams played the next-to-last regular season game of the season in Clemson, with the Tigers prevailing, 58-56. Both games were decided in the final seconds and by two points, as Tech defeated Clemson, 67-65, in Cassell Coliseum on Feb. 4.

North Carolina is the top seed in the tournament, Duke is the second seed, Florida State is the third seed and Virginia is the fourth seed. Wake Forest, Boston College, Georgia Tech and the Hokies tied for ninth place in the conference and the Hokies are the 10th seed, due to tie-breakers. All games of the ACC Tournament will be broadcast live on the Virginia Tech IMG Sports Network.
