CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Virginia Tech dropped an ACC road contest to Miami, 65-49, at the BankUnited Center on Thursday night. With the loss, the Hokies fall to 13-11 overall and 2-7 in league play, while Miami improves to 15-7 overall and 6-3 in ACC action.
Miami took a 30-22 lead into the half and eventually stretched the lead to 14 points before the Hokies went on a run and cut the lead to 47-42 on a lay-up by Dorian Finney-Smith with 7:58 remaining. But Tech could get no closer and the Hurricanes claimed the victory.
Erick Green led all scorers with 17 points, with 13 points coming after intermission. He was the only Hokies in double-figures. Reggie Johnson led UM with 15 points and seven rebounds. The Hokies out rebounded the Canes, 40-32, but committed 17 turnovers in the contest.
The Hokies return to action on Sunday as they host Boston College at 6 p.m., in Cassell Coliseum. The game will be televised live by ESPNU.
