COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Virginia Tech staged a dramatic comeback, but could not take the lead and lost to Maryland, 73-69, at Comcast Center on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hokies fall to 12-9 overall and 1-5 in ACC action, while the Terps improve to 13-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Maryland jumped out to an early lead and led 32-19 at the half. The lead stayed around 10 points for most of the second half, until Tech went on a 21-13 run to end the game.

The Hokies were able to cut the lead to two points on a three-pointer by Robert Brown with 4.3 seconds remaining, but was unable to steal the inbounds pass and was forced to foul. Terrell Stoglin made both free throws and Maryland claimed the 73-69 victory.

Erick Green led four Hokies in double figures with 18 points. Dorenzo Hudson and Victor Davila scored 14 points each and Jarell Eddie added 11 points. Stoglin led all scorers with 28 points.

Tech shot just 24.0 percent from the floor in the first half, but came out in the second half and made 18 of 36 shots, including four of eight three-point baskets. The Hokies committed just 10 turnovers in the contest and forced the Terps into 18 turnovers.

The Hokies return to Cassell Coliseum on Thursday night, as they host nationally-ranked Duke. Tip-off on ESPN is 7 p.m.
