Tyrone Garland to transfer
Hokie guard decides to leave program

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech guard Tyrone Garland has decided to transfer to another school, head coach Seth Greenberg announced today.

“We are sorry to see Ty leave,” Greenberg said. “Young people have dreams and aspirations and they want to play. Tyrone wants to play. He is a fine student who is in good academic standing. We wish him well in his future endeavors and we will do all we can to help him find the right fit and the right school for him.”

Garland, a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa., appeared in eight games this season, averaging 4.6 points per game. He started the season-opening win against East Tennessee State, scoring 13 points. He scored a career-high 18 points in the win over Monmouth. He appeared in 38 games in his career and averaged 3.1 points per game in his two seasons at Virginia Tech.
