Hudson named ACC Co-Player of the Week
Senior guard's big week leads Tech to NIT semifinals in the Garden

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech guard Dorenzo Hudson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 20, 2011, in a vote by a committe of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Hudson shares the award with Bernard James of Florida State and Wake Forest’s Chase Fischer was tabbed as the ACC Rookie of the Week.

Hudson, a redshirt senior from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 24.5 points and 2.5 assists in wins over Monmouth and FIU. In Tuesday’s 78-63 win over FIU, he was eight-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line en route to scoring an ACC season-high 31 points in a victory that advanced the Hokies to the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

This is the second ACC Player of the Week honor of Hudson’s career and he is the first Hokie to garner the award this season. Hudson was named ACC Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 3, 2010. Hudson missed most of the 2010-11 season following foot surgery and was granted a medical redshirt for the season.

The Hokies, 3-0 on the season, will play #5/5 Syracuse in the semifinals of the NIT Season-Tip-Off in Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. Hudson is third in the ACC in scoring, at 19.3 points per game.
