ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Virginia Tech seniors Jeff Allen and Malcolm Delaney have been named to the 2011 All-District III team, as selected by members of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, as announced on Thursday.
Delaney, a guard from Baltimore, Maryland, makes the team for the second consecutive season, while Allen, a forward from Washington, D.C., makes his first appearance on the team.
Delaney leads the Hokies in scoring and assists. He was named first team All-ACC on Monday and was named to the NABC All-District 2 team on Tuesday. Allen was named second team All-ACC on Monday and was selected to the NABC All-District 2 second team on Tuesday. Allen is second in the ACC in rebounding, third in field goal percentage and seventh in minutes played. He needs one blocked shot to become the first-ever ACC player with 1,500 career points, 1,000 career rebounds, 200 career steals and 150 career blocked shots.
The Hokie duo is joined on the team by Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Tyler Zeller of North Carolina, Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler of Duke, Andrew Goudelock of the College of Charleston, Cam Long of George Mason and Jordan Williams of Maryland. District III is comprised of schools from Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina.
