KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney and forward Jeff Allen have been named to 2011 All-District 2 teams, as selected by members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and released on Wednesday.
Delaney, a senior from Baltimore, Md., leads the Hokies in scoring and assists. He was named first team All-ACC on Monday and was a second team NABC All-District 4 selection last season. He is joined on the first team by Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler of Duke, Jordan Williams of Maryland and Reggie Jackson of Boston College. These five players also represent the All-ACC first team.
Allen, a senior from Washington, D.C., was selected to the All-District 2 second team. Allen is second in the ACC in rebounding, third in field goal percentage and seventh in minutes played. This is his first selection to the NABC team. He needs one blocked shot to become the first-ever ACC player with 1,500 career points, 1,000 career rebounds, 200 career steals and 150 career blocked shots.
The 245 selected student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the State Farm Coaches’ Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 2, at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston during the NABC Convention and NCAA Final Four.
