BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech will enter the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament as the sixth seed and will face 11th seed Georgia Tech in the first round on Thursday night. The game will be the final game of the first night at the Greensboro Coliseum, tipping off approximately 9:30 p.m. The ACC Network will televise the game live.
The winner of the Virginia Tech – Georgia Tech game will play third seed Florida State at 9:30 p.m. on Friday night. The Hokies are 19-10 overall and finished 9-7 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets are 13-17 overall and 5-11 in conference play. The two teams split the season series against each other, with each team winning on their home courts. All games of the ACC Tournament will be broadcast live on the Virginia Tech Sports Network by IMG College.
North Carolina is the top seed in the tournament, Duke is the second seed and Florida State is the third seed. Clemson, Boston College and the Hokies tied for fourth place in the conference and the Tigers received the fourth seed and the Eagles are the fifth seed, due to tiebreakers.
